Non official translation:
The Municipality of Val-des-Monts wishes to inform its population that despite the spring flood, the Montvalois road network is safe and practicable.
The preventive work carried out by the Public Works Department by adding a series of culverts on the H.-Zurenski and Trois-Lacs roads during the month of April permitted the maintenance of these lanes in operational condition .
The Public Works Department, in cooperation with the Fire Safety Department, constantly monitors the situation on the territory. Water flow and water level audits are conducted regularly with partners from the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais and Énergie renouvelable Brookfield. A decline in water level has been observed over the last 24 hours for the La Lièvre River as well as the streams near H. -Zurenski and Trois-Lacs roads.
However, as you can see in the media, several municipalities in the region, unfortunately, suffered more flooding , such as the City of Gatineau and the Municipality of Pontiac, where some areas are flooded. Traffic lanes and major collector arteries had to be closed for an indefinite period. Among others, the ministère des Transports, de la Mobilité durable et de l'Électrification des Transports has issued a press release, which you can find on our website and on our Facebook page, informing us of the closure of Highway 50 West in Gatineau for an indefinite period of time, and according to the latest updates from the Info transports - Quebec 511 Website, on May 5, 2017 at 5:35 pm, and on May 6, 2017 at 1:57 am, provincial Road 307 is closed at the Boulevard La Gappe and between Highway 50 and Gatineau Avenue.
For safety reasons and also to facilitate the work of local authorities, interveners and volunteers, people are asked to avoid areas affected by floods.
